SUPER MARIO MECHANICS

  1. When we think about the classic name we always hear in the game world, Mario, the basic mechanics that come to mind will be jump, run, power up, and wall jump.



2. We can say that the mechanics are like the physical rules of the world we will play into which will affect the gaming experience directly. A good mechanic should feel like it is a part of the flow. The jumping animation should be consistent with the height of it. These mechanics like power-ups and wall jumps will make the players create their tactics which will make the game even more fun to play.




3. Players can combine the basic movements with different strategies such as power-ups, wall jumps or similar map navigation skills and create their way to solve the puzzle at that level. In Mario, we will usually have high mobility which will make the players use these power-ups and strategies at the same time to get through the game.



4. Some mechanics will be like a signature or a mark for the games such as Mario's running or jumping on things or hitting things while jumping.

5. As a classic, a long jump in 2D might be a good idea to add to the game as a mechanic. I think It might add even more mobility to the 2D game.

RUN: Faster than the walking speed, mario will run.






JUMP: Mario will jump to get higher from the ground level.

WALL JUMP: Mario will use the wall to push himself forward and jump again.


SPEED UP(Wario ware): This will make the game increase the speed so player will have less time to react.


CROUCH: The character will crouch which allows him to get through small places but also saved from hits coming from above.


JUMP BOOST (Mario Kart): After jumping off most ramps, characters can perform Jump Boost.


ROLL: Mario will start rolling and become even faster.
